For the past few months a group of people in our class have been going to Woodland Terrace and interviewing residents on different eras of their lives. For the first couple weeks I met with a woman named Randy. I learned all about her childhood, family, and what she enjoys the most in life. It was very rewarding hearing about how much different not only the times were but, how much different different peoples lives are. Not everyone goes to college, not everyone leaves their hometown, not everyone goes to Florida every year for spring break. After I finished my boom with Randy I started meeting with a man named Paul. Paul graduated from a high school in southern Indiana called Coal City. His graduating class consisted of 9 total people. Hearing about life on a farm and knowing everyone in your class very well is funny to think about. It's fun to hear about their greatest accomplishments because in both cases I found that it wasn't money, or anything like that. It was their relationships spouses, kids, and family were the answers in both cases. Overall this has been the most rewarding project that i've done yet because I feel more educated on life due to it. Everyone makes mistakes and your life isn't going to be exactly how you want or envision it to be.

A portion of the class has started a new project at Woodland Terrace where we are paired with a senior and we interview them using a life stories book. Our first day we took a tour and got the lay of the land, but Wednesday we had our first meeting with our partners. I was paired with a woman named Randy. On the first day we got almost halfway through the book so Caralee is going to potentially find other activities we can do with the seniors. The interviews have been very interesting because it is so cool to hear someones life story, and some stories that they may have never told anyone else in their lives. An idea I had was we could get paired with new people every couple weeks depending on how long the book takes so that way we could meet with multiple people which benefits both us and the people living at Woodland Terrace.
For the past few weeks we've been working on all the graphics for the Athletic Department, and for the most part we have completed all the ones that they have asked for. We created the graphics for Football, Basketball, and Golf which sounds like the sports that they are wanting to display in the gym so we are done with that unless they request anything else. Right now we are trying to work out the logistics on a sports gear donation to the NPCFL and the NPYL. Our general idea is that we would have donation buckets for the gear and then we could give everything that was donated to the local sports leagues. We are going to be reaching out to the boards to see what they need in terms of gear and how they would like us to help them out.
Over the past few weeks Brady and I have transitioned into a new project. We have been creating the graphics for the Athletic Departments new wall of fame TV's that will be going in the main gym. This process consisted of creating a template that the athletic department liked and now we have to fill in the blanks with every sports different records. So far we have all the graphics for football done. We have a few graphics done for basketball done but we have not fully finished. When all of the graphics are complete we will return to making videos for NPTV.
For the past few week Brady and I have been trying new forms of media which have gone over very well so far. We have been gathering hudl highlights each week and creating highlight reels which include cool effects, features, and songs. These have been very good at sharing our project a little more, because we can work with the athletes on various teams and groups to gather clips to include in the videos. The team members we work with also share the videos onto their personal accounts which helps us gain more exposure. This new form of media is also very exciting going into the winter where we can work with the winter groups and teams to continue creating these videos and highlight reel. We are also trying a new idea this week where we make a college game day type show and pick our winners for all of the states regional championships.
For the past few months Brady and I have been posting weekly interviews. We have interviewed members of the Soccer team (girls and boys), members of the football team, members of the volleyball team, and our principal Mr. Voelz. In addition we have started posting sports highlight clips which we receive through a google form that we made that allows students, coaches, and teachers to send us any media or event that they want promoted. This past week we put a pause on NPTV to an extent to help out Vivian and Kenzie with the Red For Riley Game. Throughout the week I helped them in selling the rally towels for the game and really just anything they needed help with. At the game I helped them set up the stand along with helping work it during the game. Now we are back to making interviews and are looking into possibly doing the Dragons Sports Initiative which is a project that has been done through the years while doing NPTV as well.
For my project I decided on New Pal TV with Brady Armstrong. The original idea came from an old service learning project called NPSN(New Pal Sports Network), this account specialized in promoting sports teams and athletes but nothing outside of that. The idea behind NPTV was to not only promote athletics in the school but to promote everything like clubs, choir, band, and other events in the school. On pitch day we came prepared to present our project as a promotion service for everything going on in the school. The pitch went very well and we received a lot of good feedback especially from Craig Smith who is in charge of communications for the district. In our original pitch the content schedule was still a little hazy, but over the past few weeks we have gotten a good schedule of weekly interviews with different groups. We had initially planned to do a weekly episode giving a rundown of the prior weeks events and sports results but it just came out boring compared to interviews with students and staff in the school. Since pitch day we have been filming interviews and working on coming up with content for future pieces.
